Nice to meet you! My name is Sukhjinder Singh – please call me “Sukh”! Feel free to skip to my LinkedIn :).
If you met me in 2005-2009, you would have found me working as a web developer and graphic designer. However, I was never fully satisfied with just working on websites till launch; I was intrigued by what happened afterwards.
My curiosity led me to do some soul searching and learn about digital marketing. After harassing the biggest SEO agency at the time (yep, I called, emailed, and turned up with my CV unannounced…twice), I got a job as an SEO exec in 2009. I learned on the job and out of the office, I committed. And luckily, my technical background in web development gave me a head start in technical SEO.
SEO at Agencies
Since 2009, I’ve had the opportunity to progress and work in senior roles at several agencies. The most recent role being as Head of SEO at Anicca Digital Ltd, where I worked for just under 9 years.
Whilst working at agencies, I’ve had the chance to work with some fantastic household and industry-famous brands, such as Vogue, Deichmann, Experian, University of Leicester, Domino Printing Sciences, and Khyam. I cut my teeth on ecommerce and lead generation projects, targeting single and multiple countries, leading and coordinating with multiple stakeholders towards global KPIs. I loved collaborating with clients and other marketing consultants. As a result, I’ve built rich, long-standing relationships with other marketers, developers, and creatives, who I continue to collaborate with today.
During the lockdowns, like many, I thought about the type of work I actually like doing and how I could progress in my career (outside of an agency or in-house role). So, in 2022 I decided to take the plunge and go freelance! My years of experience doing ‘the doing’ of SEO and extensive business development gave me the confidence for this move, and I really, REALLY enjoy it!
If I’m not working I’m probably thinking about cool new things to try at work, whilst workout out, eating, and DIY-ing. I like discovering new veggie restaurants on cheat days, and I off-set this with working out. Fitness started as a way to escape the old obesity chart back in 2017, and since then I’ve lost roughly 8 stone and gained a new, permanent daily routine/obsession and mental admin tool.
I now love to find marathons to run in nice locations, do jiu-jitsu, lift weights, to the annoyance of everyone on social media.
I also enjoy working for non-profits. Currently, I work for im1313.com as an SEO strategist, and in basically any capacity that’s needed at the time. The purpose of this role is to help educate people about Sikh heritage.
